Closed Week at WSU Student Recreation Center
Employees at the Washington State University Student Recreation Center are hard at work cleaning, moving equipment, and installing new flooring just in time for Fall Semester to start.
UREC Associate Director for Facilities and Finance Jeff Elbract said maintaining the nearly 11 year old building has kept it in almost new shape, a promise that he said was made to students more than a decade ago. Texas Tech researchers are testing a new type of building block from Mason Greenstar. The new material called Blox are marketed as an energy efficient and environmentally friendly building material. The blox are made partially from recycled shredded Texas Lottery tickets and shredded phone books.
Students from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Texas Tech are conducting the research.
Tech Callers are MIT students who represent the Alumni Association and assist it in raising money for the Institute. Students call alumni in hopes of creating a connection between alumni and the MIT community and securing alumni gifts to the MIT Annual Fund. Approximately one-quarter of the Institute's donors make their gift through the Tech Caller Program. Learn more in this short video.
