NIH Study Results: Autoinjectors Found To Be Safe and Effective for Treating Prolonged Seizures
National researchers, including a team from University of Maryland School of Medicine, have determined that giving seizure medication into a muscle using an autoinjector, similar to the EpiPen used to treat serious allergic reaction, is a faster and more effective way to stop status epilepticus, a prolonged seizure lasting more than five minutes. Albert Hill Middle School teachers wrote the PIA Award project proposal, the Modlin Center provided a workshop by a member of River North Dance Chicago and discounted tickets so that students could attend a performance by the dance company that evening.
