Students investigate how mountains are formed. Concepts include the composition and structure of the Earth's tectonic plates and tectonic plate boundaries, with an emphasis on plate convergence as it relates to mountain formation. Students learn that geotechnical engineers design technologies to measure movement of tectonic plates and mountain formation, as well as design to alter the mountain environment to create safe and dependable roadways and tunnels.
The incidence of obesity is on the increase in affluent societies, and the phenomenon commands increasing attention from health professionals, legislators and the media. This unit looks at the science behind obesity, examining the dietary, physiological and genetic aspects of the topic.

Nelli [Nelly] Tsypina was born in Dnepropetrovsk in 1932.
In October 1941, together with his grandfather and aunt and thousands of other Jews, Nelli was taken to Krasnopovstancheskaya Balka, a site selected for the murder of local Jews. There she fell into the murder pit but succeeded in climbing out.
She spent the remainder of the war under an assumed identity in Dnepropetrovsk with a family that adopted her.
She was reunited with her parents after the war.
