Estimating Square Roots
When a radical is not a perfect square (1, 4, 9, 16, …), estimating square roots is a valuable tool. This video describes how to estimate the value of a radical between two consecutive integers by finding the two perfect squares that are slightly less and slightly more than the radicand. Also, remember that negative numbers do not have a real number square root. (2:28
4.125 Architecture Studio: Building in Landscapes (MIT)
4.125 is the third undergraduate design studio. This subject introduces skills needed to build within a landscape establishing continuities between the built and natural world. Students learn to build appropriately through analysis of landscape and climate for a chosen site, and to conceptualize design decisions through drawings and models.
5 Conclusion International economic relationships are constituted in large part by international trade and investment. I have argued that the current trade regime, apparently one of voluntary adherence to negotiated rule-making, is actually systematically weighted against the needs of developing countries. This asymmetry is rooted in a context where rich countries are eager to prescribe free trade for others but reluctant to impose it on themselves and able to avoid doing so. Its consequences are exacerba
Solving Radical Equations
Radical equations are equations that have square root terms. This video describes how to solve radical equations by isolating the radical expression on one side of the equation and then squaring both sides. If there are two or more terms on the opposite side of the equation, remember to draw parenthesis around that expression before squaring. (00:59)
Influences on accounting regulation
Financial reporting is a complex issue. This unit looks at the historical development of financial regulation and reporting across Europe and the world. You will also examine how both Anglo-Saxon and ‘commercial code’ accounting have expanded to become the two main accounting systems used today.
Angles in Semicircles
If an angle is inscribed in a semicircle, it will be half the measure of a semicircle (180 degrees), therefore measuring 90 degrees. This video describes how angles in a semicircle can be used to find missing missing angles and lengths. Pythagorean's theorem can be used to find missing lengths (remember that the diameter is the hypotenuse). Also, the measure of an angle formed by a chord to a tangent is half the intercepted arc. Melody Transcatheter Valve- A South Carolina First
Laurie Fladd was excited to find out she could have a heart valve replacement without having open heart surgery. She became the first patient at MUSC and in South Carolina to have the Melody transcatheter valve procedure. Dr. Phil Saul and Dr. Rani Bandisode explain how it works.
Mrs. Henrietta Lacks' Legacy: Impact on Recent Research
Her name was Henrietta Lacks, but scientists know her as HeLa. She was a poor Southern tobacco farmer who worked the same land as her slave ancestors, yet her cells -- taken without her knowledge -- became one of the most important tools in medicine.
In this eight-minute video, Hayley Warren, a sophomore at The Field School in Washington, D.C., presents a paper she wrote detailing the impact of HeLa cells on recent medical research.

6.1 Introduction The international level can be viewed as an arena of politics in its own right and not just as a context for states and other actors. If we think of the international world in this way, how should relations between states, and other actors on the international stage, be constructed? To what extent should those relations be regulated? We can ask whether relations between states, and states' policy making, should be dictated by allegedly universally shared human rights principles, or by other o

Horace Mann - The Father Of American Education
This 10:37 minute video goes into detail about the accomplishments of Horace Mann using photos from the time period. The video does an excellent job of breaking down Mann's beliefs into eight different areas. One of the better videos about Mann and what he wished for the nation's youth. Good quotes. Best for older students and teachers. Moves slowly and presents examples.
