The survivor, Josef Tarashinski, and his wife Knarik Shakhbazyan tell about the circumstances of Josef's escape from the Drobitskiy Yar killing site, and about the meeting his future rescuer, Vartan Mkrtchyan, a 16-year-old Armenian, who lived in Kharkov with his mother and sister. Thanks to his efforts and the help of Vartan's extended family Josef Tarashinski lived to see the liberation in August 1943.
