The Darden School of Business and its Batten Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation held it's annual Entrepreneurship Conference on November 3rd & 4th, 20011in Charlottesville, Virginia. Republican Presidential Candidate Jon Huntsman Speaks at College of Charleston
Republican presidential candidate Governor Jon Huntsman recently participated in College of Charleston's "The Bully Pulpit Series: Reflections on Presidential Communication" in Randolph Hall on November 2, 2011.
Huntsman was elected Governor of Utah in 2004 and won re-election in 2008. Prior to his election, Huntsman was appointed the U.S. Ambassador to Singapore by President George H.W. Bush. President Barack Obama appointed him U.S. Ambassador to China in 2009.

Alumna of the Year Award -- Following Kellie's graduation from the College as a Communication major, she embarked on a journey of community service with the HandsOn Network in Atlanta, GA. When Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, Kellie answered the call for help and became the founding executive director of HandsOn New Orleans. Young Alumnus of the Year Award -- Cyrus Buffum became Charleston's first Waterkeeper on September 16, 2008 after the organization was officially approved as a member program of the Waterkeeper Alliance.
Cyrus was born and raised on Cape Cod, MA and grew up sailing throughout New England; his time on the water gave him an incredible appreciation and passion for the ocean and its delicate ecosystems and eventually gave direction to the many decisions he's made in his life.

Alumni Award of Honor -- To receive this highest of honors, one must make a truly outstanding contribution to the College or to the Alumni Association. Billy Silcox has done just that for over 50 years -- since he set foot on this campus as a freshman and became one of our all-time great tennis players. However, those who know Billy well, know his love affair with the College began with his father and mother (Willard and Mary Silcox, both Class of 1933). The Silcox blood truly is maroon.

Body in pieces: saving medical collections (UCL)
Conservator Paul Bates (UCL Pathology Collection/ NHS Royal Free Hospital) has been saving and maintaining medical teaching collections from UCL's partner hospitals for 36 years. Now with the help of Dr Antony Hudek (UCL Mellon Fellow) and Jayne Dunn (UCL Head of Collections Management), Paul's years of hard work are paying off. UCL is re-evaluating how to house and display the collection, and the Victorian plaster casts were the subject of a UCL exhibition, The Body in Pieces.
