George Washington
George Washington was the 1st U.S. President (1789-1797). He was born in Westmoreland County, Virginia, in 1732. During the French and Indian War, George was able to show what a good leader he was. Later, he became commander of the colonial army during the Revolutionary War. He helped make the United States a new country.
