The very latest SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory) images
The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) project is being carried out between the European Space Agency and NASA. The goal of the observatory is to gather information about and images of the sun and space weather. This site contains the very latest images from the SOHO observatory. Images are available in a variety of sizes to download and a near real-time screen saver of SOHO images is also available for download. Users can also access old images and real-time movies of the sun.

This episode discusses the scientific theory of plate tectonics, in which the Earth’s crust is subdivided into a series of large and small tectonic plates. Convergent, divergent or transform boundaries are discussed and demonstrated with brittle graham crackers and icing to illustrate the motions of the plates at these boundaries. A second demonstration consisting of heating cream in a pan, representing convecting upper mantle, driving a relatively brittle layer of cocoa powder
