Environmental Studies Director, Dr. Ann Fisher-Wirth has teamed with Dr. Andy Harper, Media & Documentary Projects Director, on an Environmental Film Series aimed to open students to a discussion about environmental issues the world is dealing with today. UCLPartners and the Greater London Authority hosted a meeting for leaders and future leaders of London's health and social care system on 29 February, 2012. Professor Michael Porter (Harvard Business School) provided an introduction to value-based mental health care.
By focusing on value, Porter believes the NHS can reduce costs whilst improving services.

The University of Maryland performed the most extensive full face transplant completed to date, including both jaws, teeth, and tongue. The 36-hour operation occurred on March 19-20, 2012 at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center and involved a multi-disciplinary team of faculty physicians from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and a team of over 150 nurses and professional staff.
