5 Becoming an effective team member The purpose of this assessment unit is for you to create a portfolio of your work to represent you as an effective team member within your study or work activities. This will involve using criteria to help you select examples of your work that clearly show you can use and improve your skills in working with others. However, by far the most important aim is that you can use this assessment process to support your learning and improve your performance in working with others. Very few peop

This fun Web site is part of OLogy, where kids can collect virtual trading cards and create projects with them. Here, they learn about the human genome project by clicking through an online slide show, hosted by kids, that answers these questions: What's a genome, anyway? What is the human genome project? What does it mean to me?
Are you about to undertake a PhD in science, technology or mathematics? If so, this unit will help you to examine your work processes. You will consider and develop the nature of postgraduate work and look at the planning of work needed at doctoral level.
This course covers the principles of biology as they relate to animal behavior, with broad coverage of animal groups. Special attention will be paid to the emerging discipline of behavioral ecology.
Some animals are capable of concealing themselves against their surroundings. The patterns, colors, or behaviors they show that help them accomplish this are called camouflage.
Objects appear to be certain colors because of reflection and absorbance. Light is made up of different wavelengths that our eyes detect and convert into colors. The apple looks green because it reflects the wavelengths that correspond to the color we see as green. The apple absorbs all other wavelengths of light.
Do you have a graphics or scientific calculator? If so, this unit will help you to understand the different functions and facilities available. With a focus on arithmetic, you will learn what a powerful tool this type of calculator can be.
The year 2000s Antarctic ozone hole is the largest ever observed. Scientists continue to investigate the phenomenon, and are somewhat surprised by its scale. Using data from NASAs Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer (TOMS) instrument onboard the Earth Probe satellite, researchers can evaluate and compare current conditions over the south pole to readings taken by other instruments in years past. Continued monitoring of polar ozone levels helps researchers gain a better understanding of how the plan

This animation, derived from both remote sensing measurements of ozone and a computational ozone transport model, illustrates the complexity of ozone transport in the stratosphere.
De student oefent luister- en leesvaardigheid aan de hand van (gesproken) teksten over Amerika en de oorlog in Irak. Hij/zij leert mondeling zijn/haar mening uiten over dit onderwerp.
The power of graphics should not the underestimated. They can express information clearly and simply. This unit will help you to assess which style of graphic to use in different situations.

This exercise, which is adaptable for introductory biology students or advanced physiology classes, uses a simple radio telemetry system for measuring body temperature from unrestrained and undisturbed animals. The advantages of this system over traditional probe-type thermometers are enormous. The laboratory will include practice in calibration of the transmitters, instruction in inserting the transmitter into the animals, and experience in interpreting the data obtained.
This exercise should give students an understanding of the processes of photosynthesis and respiration as well as the concepts of succession, diversity, and energy utilization by observing and comparing control and experimental microecosystems.
Active galaxies provide a prime example of high energy processes operating in the Universe. This unit gives an overview of active galaxies, including the supermassive black holes that power the engines at their centres, and the emission processes by which we detect and study them. It also gives practice in mathematical techniques for analysing data and theoretical models.
