10.4 Summary
In this unit, we describe the theory of evolution by natural selection as proposed by Charles Darwin in his book, first published in 1859, On The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or The Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life. We will look at natural selection as Darwin did, taking inheritance for granted, but ignoring the mechanisms underlying it.

Missouri State student-athletes and administrative staff exercised the University's public affairs tenet, Community Engagement, during a marathon volunteer effort at Ozarks Food Harvest.
The group set a record of most consecutive hours (12) donated to the organization after sorting more than 28,700 pounds of food donations, the equivalent to more than 22,000 meals. Ozarks Food Harvest services 28 counties and more than 155,000 people who live at or below poverty level.
