Dr. Ohno-Machado is a Professor of Medicine and the founding chief of the Division of Biomedical Informatics at UCSD. Two years ago, her research group transitioned to UCSD from Harvard Medical School. They continue to work on biomedical pattern recognition from large data sets, statistical learning, and privacy technology. She is the Principal Investigator of SCANNER.

Manly Men of Mining Engineering Grow Moustaches, Raise Money for Cancer Research
Each year during November, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men's faces, in the U.S. and around the world. With their moustaches, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. Lead by captain Tyler Morgan, the Manly Men of Mining Engineering brought the cause and their mustaches to the UA Mall.
