The use of evidence-based guidelines is gaining renewed interest as an approach toward the rational use of health care dollars in Europe and the US. This lecture will focus on how the US Preventive Services Task force, a national independent body of primary experts sponsored by the Agency for Healthcare Quality and Research, uses evidence-based approaches in making its recommendations regarding screening tests for the US population.
