Critics and Challenges to the New Deal
During the Great Depression, America was searching for solutions. Because of this, people with radical opinions, who in better times would have been ignored, were able to capture the attention of the nation. Some made valuable contributions by presenting new ideas for debate. Others seemed to be merely obstructionist complainers or even rabble rousers just trying to make trouble. The majority, however, seemed to fall in an intermediate category of outspoken people who had many valid objections,

13th century Medieval Music: Ductia
On viol and recorder by ernst stolz. There are no surviving manuscripts containing pieces labelled as ductias. Grochieo describes the ductia as like the estampie but more regular; perhaps this refers to an estampie with verses all of the same length. Musically speaking, it might be that an instrumental estampie with only three or four two-part verses (puncti) is a ductia (HAoM p220).
Grocheio also says (presumably about the vocal ductia): "The ductia is a melody that is light and br

Lady, I am the one who wants to endure your will.
and for as long as I may live;
but I do not believe that I will endure it for long
without dying, since you are so harsh to me
that you want me to withdraw far away from you.
without seeing any longer the very great beauty
of your lovely body, which has so much worth.
for you are of all good ladies the best.
Geysers - Stream Team
From Dragonfly TV. Phoebe and Shannon love exploring Yellowstone National Park. There are so many cool things to see: the canyon, waterfalls, wildlife, lakes, hot springs, and geysers! The girls went to Canyon Visitor Center to learn more about these features-especially the thermal basins, places where there are lots of geysers or hot springs. The park sits on a really big hot spot, made up of magma that rises from deep in the earth. All this magma heats up the ground water in the area and cr

"Two Lovers", 1906, by Marcus Stone (1840-1921) Two Lovers 1906,
MY Love is of a birth as rare
As 'tis, for object, strange and high ;
It was begotten by Despair,
Upon Impossibility.
Magnanimous Despair alone
Could show me so divine a thing,
Where feeble hope could ne'er have flown,
But vainly flapped its tinsel wing.
And yet I quickly might arrive
Where my extended soul is fixed ;
But Fate does iron wedges drive,
And alwa
"Her Dilemma" by Thomas Hardy (poetry reading)
Hardy did put his heroines in difficult situations and inflict cruel and unusual punishments on them. Fundamentalists have to face the moral dilemma of whether lying is ever justified. This wouldn't be a controversial topic now but it was in Hardy's day. His novel Jude the Obscure met such public outrage that he never wrote another book. After that he put his creative energy into poetry instead.
Recently I saw a question put to those who say that lying is fundamentally wrong and never just
