Environmental Assessment Course
This semester-long project on conducting an environmental audit of a college campus can be done by an individual or by groups of students working in teams. Each group will research a different aspect of campus operations; they will collect data, analyze their findings, and make recommendations for improvements. This SERC Starting Point site includes learning goals, context for use, teaching tips and materials, assessment, and references.

Campus Nitrogen Budget
This semester-long project uses the nitrogen budget to link campus operations with local ecology. Students can work independently or in groups to research the inputs, outputs and subsystem transfers of nitrogen on their campus. The data could be used to evaluate the effect of campus sustainability efforts, energy efficiency options, and other campus policies. This SERC Starting Point site includes learning goals, context for use, teaching tips and materials, assessment, and references.
'Changing Steps' consists of solos, duets, trios, and quartets that can be performed in any order. The completed video work shows Cunningham's company of the 1980's staging the piece in the interior and exterior of a dance studio and in a more formal stage setting. The exterior of the studio blends into the natural environment, where a babbling stream passes by.

Middle School Portal: Math and Science Pathways (MSP2)
The Cells Alive Web site (last mentioned in the October 25, 1996 Scout Report), offered by Quill Graphics, contains several activities to help students understand the basics of cellular biology. The animal cell cycle and cell mitosis animations are especially excellent visual learning tools, clearly showing what takes place during these events and giving well-written descriptions of each stage. The site also has three interactive quizzes on cell structure, cell function, microbes, and the immune
Auburn vs. Tulane (1954)
"Joe Childress was the man of the day as he cleaned his cleats on Tulane jerseys, and led the Auburn Tigers to a resounding 27 to 0 win over the Tulane Green Wave. Joe did not disappoint his hometown fans who had come to Mobile to give him a "day". He intercepted one Greenie toss, and raced for two touchdowns, a 69 yard explosion in the first quarter on a desperation pass from Freeman, and a 14 yard dash in which he ran completely over a Tulane defender, apparently without breaking stride. The R
Logic for Computer Science: Foundations of Automatic Theorem Proving
This book is intended as an introduction to mathematical logic, with an emphasis on proof theory and procedures for constructing formal proofs of formulae algorithmically. This book is designed primarily for computer scientists, and more generally, for mathematically inclined readers interested in the formalization of proofs, and the foundations of automatic theorem-proving. The book is self contained, and the level corresponds to senior undergraduates and first year graduate students. However,

Internet Ancient History Sourcebook
The Internet Ancient History Sourcebook is a companion to the Internet Medieval Sourcebook and the Internet Modern History Sourcebook. The Medieval Sourcebook is both a classroom resource and the largest collection of online medieval texts. The Ancient and Modern Sourcebooks have a different role: since there are already ample online repositories of texts for these periods, the goal here is to provide and organize texts for use in classroom situations. Links to the larger online collections are

aluMATTER: Aluminium in Structural Applications
The use of aluminium alloys in structural applications has grown considerably in the past few decades. In transportation, the low density of aluminium, resulting in a high strength-to-weight ratio, makes it a favourable material for aircraft, high speed trains and ferries. In building and civil engineering, low density is sometimes the determining factor in the choice of aluminium; e.g. movable bridges, helicopter decks on offshore platforms, etc. However, other favourable properties such as cor
