La asignatura introduce al alumno conceptos relacionados con la informática y las nuevas tecnologías de la información, en primer lugar describiéndolos desde un punto de vista teórico y en segundo mostrando su aplicación práctica a través de diferentes herramientas. Por otro lado se focaliza parte de la asignatura en la estudio de estas técnicas y conceptos en los procesos documentales, detallando sus principales ventajas y aplicaciones prácticas.
