7.89 Topics in Computational and Systems Biology (MIT)
This is a seminar based on research literature. Papers covered are selected to illustrate important problems and approaches in the field of computational and systems biology, and provide students a framework from which to evaluate new developments. The MIT Initiative in Computational and Systems Biology (CSBi) is a campus-wide research and education program that links biology, engineering, and computer science in a multidisciplinary approach to the systematic analysis and modeling of complex bio

A Rare Glimpse of the Elusive Sun Bear
Sun bears are extremely hard to find in the wild. But with the right amount of luck - and an advanced motion-sensor camera, of course - you can catch them unguarded. (02:05)
2.094 Finite Element Analysis of Solids and Fluids (MIT)
This course presents finite element theory and methods for general linear and nonlinear analyses. Reliable and effective finite element procedures are discussed with their applications to the solution of general problems in solid, structural, and fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, and fluid-structure interactions. The governing continuum mechanics equations, conservation laws, virtual work, and variational principles are used to establish effective finite element discretizations and the st

By: UP Los Baños Presentation by Dr. Cleofe S. Torres, Professor, College of Development Communication, UPLB, Philippines. Delivered during the International Conference on Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation for Food and Environmental Security, November 21-22, 2012 at SEARCA, UPLB, College, Laguna, Philippines.
This lecture was recorded on February 6, 2014, in Timken Lecture Hall on the San Francisco campus of California College of the Arts as part of the college's Larry Sultan Visiting Artist Program. Kruithof, a Dutch artist born in Dordrecht, the Netherlands, considers photography as a starting point of infinite possibilities. Research in the form of interviews, temporary installations, and performative interactions with unknown people and space form the basis of her photographs. In March 2014 she

Structural geology is the study of processes and products of rock deformation. This course introduces the techniques of structural geology through a survey of the mechanics of rock deformation, a survey of the features and geometries of faults and folds, and techniques of strain analysis. Regional structural geology and tectonics are introduced. Class lectures are supplemented by lab exercises and demonstrations as well as field trips to local outcrops.
This talk introduces briefly the Avkat Archaeological Survey, a collaborative research project in north-central Anatolia which seeks to integrate a number of different approaches to studying the past, using recent technological advances to integrate disparate datasets into a cohesive framework of analysis. From the 1980s, there has been continued development of methodologies of archaeological field survey, as well as remote sensing techniques ranging from ground-penetrating radar to airborne rad
An introduction to procedures in scientific and medical testing laboratories for conducting non-instrumental tests on samples. Covers procedures to correctly receive a sand sample with a certificate of analysis.
