Honoring Howard Schultz: UA 2011 Executive of the Year
On April 15, 2011, Howard Schultz, Chairman, President and CEO of Starbucks Coffee Company, was awarded the University of Arizona 2011 Executive of the Year Award. Established in 1983 by the Eller College of Management National Board of Advisors, the Executive of the Year Award honors individuals who exemplify executive qualities in private enterprise and public service.

As a freshman, Honors College student Carina Groves intended to be a music major. Then she took an Honors course on human trafficking that awakened a drive to do something about the problem. She switched to International Studies, won an undergraduate research grant, and founded a campus organization to raise awareness. That's what the Honors College experience is all about: academic rigor and community leadership.
