This Java applet is designed to allow students to practice visualizing and calculating area and perimeter for figures formed by adjacent squares on a grid. After the student selects a size using a slide bar, the Java applet generates a random closed figure. The student enters values for the figure's area and perimeter, which are checked automatically. The applet limits figures to rectangles and generates two column comparisons of areas and perimeters for multiple figures. From the activity page,

Create a Graph
Students will learn how to create area, bar, pie, and line graphs. They are provided with information about what each type of graph shows and what it can be used for. Students are given an example of each type of graph, but they can create graphs using their own data in the interactive tool.
Box model (grades 6-8)
This virtual manipulative enables the student to randomly generate data that is displayed on a chart. The chart shows the results of a simulated drawing with replacement from a set of numbers selected by the student. The manipulative can be used to simulate flipping a coin or tossing a die. A pause button stops the simulation. A crucial consideration in macroevolutionary studies is that of the evolutionary relationships (phylogeny) of the organisms in question. Prehistoric Picture Project
The Prehistoric Picture Project uses animation to make the pictures come to life, and also to help us understood just how they worked as graphics in prehistoric times.
This animation is based on Iron Age figures, dating from the last centuries BC, engraved into open-air rock slabs at Foppe di Nadro, Valcamonica, in the Italian Alps.
Here the pictures are made by hammering little peck-marks into the smooth natural rock surface. We call them 'pexils'. When we work digitally they become pixels.
