The Big Ideas website provides information about a series of open events, mostly held in pubs in London. These aim to provide a forum for thoughtful discussion of interesting subjects: events typically begin with a question (usually broadly philosophical in nature, but sometimes also covering issues of public policy, the arts, and a range of other topics) and a very brief informal talk from someone with relevant expertise. The remainder of the evening is devoted to free, unstructured discussion

Futurelab Workshop - Digital Inclusion: Building fairer futures, challenging educational divides
This was an innovative event to launch the Futurelab's digital inclusion agenda. The Children’s Research Centre of the Open University supports children being active researchers in their schools. This paper presents the views of 10 and 11 year-old researchers about an evaluation of their involvement in research projects. The children valued their unique perspective as well as group perspectives of the process. The paper considers the implications of a participatory technique as a way of representing their views.
