3.1 Introduction Precedent is the basis of the common law. The doctrine of binding precedent is known as the doctrine of stare decisis, which is Latin meaning ‘to stand by/adhere to decided cases’, i.e. to follow precedent. In other words, once a principle is decided it should be followed in future cases. The doctrine refers to the fact that, within the hierarchical structure of the English courts, the decision of a higher court will be binding on a lower court. In general terms, this means th
2.2 Use of language Use of language is extremely important in law. As a law student it is important that you use language in an accurate way. The rest of Part A of this unit will therefore consider the importance of language in law. By now you will have had a few opportunities to look up the Setting Up Your Development Environment This video covers how to set up your development environment. You may find it easier to follow along by downloading the Kinect for Windows SDK Quickstarts samples and slides. The Power of the Whole Picture 5.1 Introduction Elite athletes are aware of the importance of heart performance and blood flow and many have specific training programmes to increase the strength and efficiency of the heart. This is not, however, just something that impacts on elite athletes. Even those of us engaged in sport at an amateur level or just for recreation will have experienced the effect of sport on the heart. After intense physical activity our heart pounds and possibly our head pounds too from the blood that is being pumped t 4.4 Maximum heart rate The other part of an efficient heart is the maximum rate that it can beat. If we think about competitors in a race that takes about five minutes, the athlete whose heart can beat at 200 times per minute for five minutes will probably do much better than one whose heart can only beat at 180 times per minute. This is linked to how much blood is pumped with each beat. If an individual's heart doesn't pump very much blood when they are resting, then the heart rate has to increase so 2.5 What's this got to do with sport? So, we've seen three ways of looking at the how the body works. This is useful science but what has this to do with sport? Do athletes really need to think about their bodies scientifically, or can they just get on and compete in their own sport? Yes, athletes (or someone in their support team) really do have to think about their bodies in these ways. One obvious example is that athletes have to know what happens when they eat before a competition. 1.9 Conclusion Own Your Reproductive Health CIDMEF Libreville 2011 - Session CADMEF.

To set up a care relationship that works well is a delicate matter, whether you are at the giving or the receiving end. In this unit we explore the very varied meanings of care relationships and how these meanings arise. Millions of care relationships are going on as you read this, and each carries its own particular meanings for those involved. But where have all those people picked up their ideas of how to relate to each other? How does any of us know where to begin?

"Law, Strategy and the Transformation of the State"
Philip Bobbitt, Wechsler Professor of Law, Columbia University
Conversations host Harry Kreisler welcomes Philip Bobbitt for a discussion of his book, The Shield of Achilles: War, Peace and the Course of History. Bobbitt explores the dynamic relationship between constitution and strategy and its consequences for the transformation of the state. In modern history, epochal wars are fought and then settlements reached that legitimate changes in t
This course examines the history, techniques, and aesthetics of mechanical and computer-aided approaches to algorithmic music composition and generative music systems. Through creative hands-on projects, readings, listening assignments, and lectures, students will explore a variety of historical and contemporary approaches. Diverse tools and systems will be employed, including applications in Python, MIDI, Csound, SuperCollider, and Pure Data.
The precise establishment of gene expression patterns is a crucial step in development. Formation of a sharp boundary between high and low spatial expression domains requires a genetic mechanism that exhibits sensitivity, yet is robust to fluctuations, a demand that may not be easily achieved by morphogens alone. Recently, it has been demonstrated that small RNAs (and, in particular, microRNAs) play many roles in embryonic development. Whereas some RNAs are essential for embryogenesis, others ar
