This tale by the Brothers Grimm will enchant youngsters with its sweetness and charm and not-too-frightening magic.

Economic conditions of the 1700s were a contributing factor to the discontent felt by the American colonies towards Great Britain and were not easily overcome after independence. This is how the British used a shortage of money to their advantage. A three minute video that gives some depth to the causes of the Revolution. Well worth viewing. Shows the importance of a common currency to a nation's success.
From the 1760's onward, colonial anger grows as the British pass a series of taxes and laws. With each one, the two groups move closer to war. This is a quick, two minute, overview of the causes of the Revolutionary War. A timeline of events would be oif value.

This is a wonderful teaching resource for a unit on the history of the US. It certainly helps to build background knowledge on lifestyle, clothing, transportation, etc. during colonial times (10:51).
This two minute podcast explains the Acts that led to the American Revolutionary War. The images are incorrect as a whole, but the four major factors are explained. A good overview, but lacks depth and an effort to explain why the British took such actions.

read with such zeal is very inspiring. Think of this document whenever
you think of the role of government.

The 2nd Continental Congress appointed Thomas Jefferson to draft the Declaration of Independence. Good details about how Jefferson came up with some ideas for the Declaration using theme of an unjust King. Students need to have a copy of this document is go along with the video as well as a timeline of events that resulted in this work.
