Farmers' markets
Op het einde van deze les kun je inhoudsvragen over een interview over de Farmers' Markets (boerenmarkten) beantwoorden.
A blind date
Op het einde van deze les kun je, aan de hand van een luisterfragment, op een plattegrond aanduiden welke toestellen er in de keuken van een hotel staan.
Oh No! Oil Spills
Developed for second grade. Students will create shoreline habitats on a mini scale. They will think deeply and investigate the effect of oil spills on the environment. To do this, they will put objects similar to animal fur or feathers in an oily situation, as well as put themselves in an oily situation.
Biology In Elementary Schools is a Saint Michael's College student project. The teaching ideas on this page have been found, refined, and developed by students in a college-level course on the
Moldy Food
Developed for first grade. Students will begin by being introduced to the food pyramid. This will include a coloring activity to emphasize the different food groups. Next, students will take part in an experiment showing the process of growing mold on food.

Political Cartoons
In this activity, students will research a political issue that is highlighted and discussed on the TakingITGlobal website. Students will pick one issue and write a one page satire on the event/issue. Part 2 of the assignment is for the students to create their own political cartoon using Photoshop or similar software.
Not in Our Town Northern California: Reversing Vandalism - San Francisco, CA
"Not In Our Town Northern California: When Hate Happens Here" looks at five communities that are dealing with hate violence. This Educator Guide addresses events in San Francisco. An art exhibit was organized at the main branch of the San Francisco Public Library in response to the vandalism of over 600 gay-oriented texts. This Guide includes discussion ideas and activities related to hate crimes.
Animal Products: Pearl necklace
Oysters are important to the environment because they help filter out some of the toxins and trash in water. When something irritates the oyster's insides, it secretes a substance to coat the irritant. A pearl is then formed. Humans wear pearls as jewelry.
Induction of Nitrate Reductase in Plant Shoots
A laboratory exercise that uses colormetric assay and corn seedling shoots to study the induction of enzyme activity by a substrate.
Decaying log
The white stringy material is actually fungus. These strands take in food and also contain spores (reproductive structures).
Science in Focus: Force and Motion: Workshop 8. Bend and Stretch
We all expect a spring to stretch or compress when a force is applied, but forces can even deform solid objects like the floor or the top of a table. In this workshop, students in a high school classroom explore ideas about tension and normal force. By applying a force to a spring and measuring the distance the spring is stretched, the students calculate the force constant or stretchiness of the spring. Lecture demonstrations using student volunteers help to illustrate that even rigid objects be
Diversity of leaves
The diversity of land plants can be seen in the diversity of their leaves. Leaves vary by color, vein arrangement, shape, texture, and thickness.
How do I pay?

4 Conclusion
Accounts of Caravaggio's life are filled with suggestions of murder and intrigue. But does knowing more about this dark artist's experiences help us to interpret his art? Or does understanding his motivations cloud their true meaning? This unit explores the biographical monograph, one of the most common forms of art history writing.
Plants That Aren't Plants: Mosses and Lichens
Mosses and lichens are not given much attention in introductory biology laboratory courses, in part because instructors lack skills necessary to cover the topic-namely, moss leaf cross sectioning and lichen chemical spot tests. Acquiring confidence in just these two techniques, as well as familiarity with basic terminology, lays a foundation for further investigation.
Slide Right on By Using an Inclined Plane
Students explore building a pyramid, learning about the simple machine called an inclined plane. They also learn about another simple machine, the screw, and how it is used as a lifting or fastening device. During a hands-on activity, students see how the angle of inclination and pull force can make it easier (or harder) to pull an object up an inclined plane.
Geranium bloom
Time-lapse photos or video show progressions from the start of an event to the end of the event. These time-lapse photos illustrate the opening of a geranium flower to absorb sunlight. Biological processes require time.
