ARPANET building in 1960s were working on connecting computers together. In 1983 the Internet was dedicated to Military research. By 1990 most computers had networking abilities. (2:53)

Episode 1 (of a 11-part series) This Nortel LearniT tutorial reviews the history of the Internet. It has only been around for about 40 years. In the beginning it was used for the military. Today it is used by everyone for many different reasons.

A general overview of the history of the internet. The Internet started out in the 1950's when computers were hooked together to share information. It was a very slow process. In the 1960s colleges hooked computers up to share intormation. At first only text files were shared back and forth.
A Brief History of Web Search
Charts the development of internet search engines to the start of 2010. Directories got pretty big so the search box came along. Spiders did the work of classifying pages. Then Keywords came along to make searching easier.

History of the Mac OS Part 4
Carbon is a main application environment in Mac OS X, a few example programs that are inside it are the Finder, Adobe software, and iTunes (as of Mac OS X 10.5). Carbon combines much of the old Mac OS API with some new stuff. Apple has been phasing Carbon out of the UI realm and it is now becoming the standard set of APIs for background and low level tasks. Cocoa is the primary environment of graphical applications in OS X.
