3.8.2 Assess the effectiveness of your strategy If you were asked to assess how effective your planning, researching, monitoring and evaluating have been in improving your learning and performance, what would be your assessment? You may comment on factors that impacted on your learning, for example the feedback you received from your tutor or manager, a workshop you attended, or discussions with other students or colleagues. Other factors might be your improved awareness of what you are trying to achieve or having a structured approach to
Roheline Raamat - kuidas saada rikkaks?

Enhancing Your Biology Course and Lab WWW Pages with the Latest in HTML, CGI, and JavaScript Feature
This workshop directed at individuals with basic htm and web page construction experience, demonstrates how to enhance your course webpages. We will demonstrate techniques in a platform independent manner such that you can add tutorials, quizzes, embedded sound, video, image maps and JavaScript to your course homepages. We will discuss the potential and limitations of enhanced webpages and the basic differences between the Internet and your own campus Intranet. We will show how to optimize your
Electron Flow in Photosynthesis
The fascinating concept of electron flow is explored with simple equipment in an exercise for first-year students. Students use a spectrophotometer to generate an absorption spectrum for spinach chloroplasts, and then make a prediction about the effect of wavelength of light on the rate of photosynthesis. Students design their own carefully controlled experiments to test their predictions.
Lunar Lollipops
The students work in teams of two to discover the relative positions of the Earth, Sun and Moon that produce the different phases of the Moon. The students will be given a Styrofoam ball that they will attach to a pencil so that it looks like a lollipop. This ball will be the Moon, the students will be the Earth and a hanging lightbulb will be the Sun. The students will move the "Moon" around them to discover the different phases. They will fill in the position of the Moon and its corresponding
Paul Rand Interview
"Design Archives" raw material on the graphic designer Paul Rand, consisting of 225-minute interview on five videocassettes. One of the cassettes does not contain interview footage, but 34 raw, unedited minutes of exterior and interior shots of Rand's house, including shots of some of his most famous designs.

How to float an egg
Developed for third grade. This lesson begins by exploring the concepts of density and buoyancy with an introductory "sink or float" activity. In this activity students will be asked to predict whether they think each of a group of small objects will sink or float. The objects we used for this activity are on the materials list. This gets students interested and asking the question "why do some objects sink, and others float?" Students will be asked to think about this question before being give
Hear the Wave!
Developed for third grade. In this experiment, students will learn all about soundwaves. Using different techniques and objects, students investigate how different sounds are made from different objects, and how the soundwaves for each are different from one another.
Biology In Elementary Schools is a Saint Michael's College student project. The teaching ideas on this page have been found, refined, and developed by students in a college-level course on the teaching of biology at the elementary
Symbols of Culture
PTPI's Global Youth Murals Project poses a wonderful introduction to the ways in which children around the world represent their cultures through visual art. Using this collection in the Global Gallery, learners can examine different depictions of culture as an entry point to studying cultures of countries around the world. This activity can be an introductory exercise to social studies or world geography research projects.

Tutorial planning : Adapting course generation to todays needs.
Most of today's course generation does not allow an in-depth, generic representation of pedagogical knowledge. However, supporting
individual learners with different goals requires an elaborate representation
of pedagogical expertise. In this paper, I describe a framework that adapts existing approaches for representing and using pedagogical knowledge to meet today's needs. Furthermore, I will show how in this
framework several of today's problems are solved, such as the integration of distribut
Space Travel Guide
This OLogy activity offers kids a fun way to use their astronomical knowledge to create a comic-book travel guide that blends science and fiction. 3.1 What does TCP/IP protocol architecture do? The Internet is a worldwide public internetwork, which allows computers to communicate with each other even though they may have different manufacturers and different operating systems. The origins of the Internet lie in a project of the US Defense Advanced Research Project Agency in the 1970s, where it was intended to foster communication between research institutions rather than operate for profit. However, a substantial amount of traffic carried by the Internet is now related to com
Exploring The Forces of Tension
Students will review their knowledge of tension and focus on tensile loads and failure caused by them.
Strum Along
Music and sound are two different concepts that share much in common. Determining the difference between the two can sometimes be difficult due to the subjective nature of deciding what is or is not music. The goal of this activity is to take something constructed by students, that would be normally classified as just sound and have the class work together to make what can be perceived to be music. Students will construct a basic stringed instrument made of a shoebox and rubber bands. This activ
