Mitochondrial DNA from Lumbriculus variegatus: Isolation and Restriction Digest Analysis
In this activity, mitochondria are isolated from the California blackworm, Lumbriculus variegatus, by homogenization and differential centrifugation. A modified plasmid miniprep procedure (alkaline lysis) is then used to isolate DNA from these mitochondria.
