NATURE | Behind the Scenes of "Hummingbirds" | PBS
This video shows the wonderful marriage between technology, cinematography, and the study of animals. Ann Prum, producer and cinematographer, explained how she and her team were able to catch the unbelievable grace and agility of hummingbirds in the wild using an HD camera called the Phantom High-speed Camera.  The video will help students to identify special characteristics like how hummingbirds eat from flowers, catch bugs, flap their wings in a figure eight, fight with one another, etc.
Photosynthesis: The Movie
This five minute animation about Photosynthesis in action must have a word list of hand out as it moves very rapidly and uses very difficult scientific words and principles. A few key vocabulary words include: ATP, ADP, Pi, electron transport train, hydrogen ions, water molecules, cytochrome b6f, ferredoxin NADP reductase, ATP synthase, and plastoquinone Qb. This is an early movie adaption of Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore Cooper. A fictional drama set in 1757 during the French and Indian War. A silent movie with musical soundtrack, it is quite watchable and tells the story well. Run time 72:00.
American Civil War (1861-1865) part 2 (From the movie, "Glory")
The American Civil War (1861-1865), also known as the War Between the States and several other names, was a civil war in the United States of America. Eleven Southern slave states declared their secession from the U.S. and formed the Confederate States of America (the Confederacy). Led by Jefferson Davis, they fought against the U.S. federal government (the Union), which was supported by all the free states and the five border slave states in the north !!!
