Newspaper Tower
Students will be challenged to design and construct a tower out of newspaper. They will have limited supplies including newspaper, tape, and scissors since engineers are often restricted by economic reasons as to how much material they can use in their building. The students will be building for height and stability, and their towers must be designed to withstand a lateral "wind" load.

Analyzing and Developing Role-Based Access Control Models
Role-based access control (RBAC) has become today's dominant access control model, and many of its theoretical and practical aspects are well understood. However, certain aspects of more advanced RBAC models, such as the relationship between permission usage and role activation and the interaction between inheritance and constraints, remain poorly understood. Moreover, the computational complexity of some important problems in RBAC remains unknown. In this thesis we consider these issues, develo
Linear function graph display
An interactive applet that allows the user to graphically explore the properties of a linear functions. Specifically, it is designed to foster an intuitive understanding of the effects of changing the two coefficients in the function y=ax+b. The applet shows a large graph of a quadratic (ax + b) and has two slider controls, one each for the coefficients a and b. As the sliders are moved, the graph is redrawn in real time illustrating the effects of these variations. Applet can be enlarged to ful
The Use of the LEGO MINDSTORMS System in Modeling: The Foraging Behavior and Strategies of Simple An
The LEGO MINDSTORMS system provides a rich simulation environment for evolutionary adaptation and animal behavior. It includes both hardware and software that may be considered analogous to anatomical features and behavioral repertoire respectively. The system is off-the-shelf which minimizes set-up and preparation time. Conversely, its components are capable of considerable customization and expansion if desired. The MINDSTORMS system makes clear that form, function, and behavior of animals are

America Gets a Constitution
After several failed attempts at creating a government, a 1787 convention is called to draft a new legal system for the United States. This new Constitution provides for increased federal authority while still protecting the basic rights of its citizens. This video shows how weak the Articles were and the impact of Shay's Rebellion. What Do Bread and Beer Have in Common?
Students are presented with information that will allow them to recognize that yeasts are unicellular organisms that are useful to humans. In fact, their usefulness is derived from the contrast between the way yeast cells and human cells respire. Specifically, while animal cells derive energy from the combination of oxygen and glucose and produce water and carbon dioxide as by-products, yeasts respire without oxygen. Instead, yeasts break glucose down and produce alcohol and carbon dioxide as th
Lake Effects of Lake Michigan, faster push-in
Todays SeaWiFS image of Lake Michigan shows a lake effect where clear dry air moves eastward as it traverses the lake and forming dense clouds by the time it reaches the Michigan shore.
3.5.3 Single participant interventions A single participant intervention study, studies the effects of an intervention in the case of one person, with the aim of establishing those elements of the intervention which would work with the majority of people. This is because the method assumes that in all important respects, all human beings are the same, and the effects of the intervention in one case should be the same in all cases. It is a method that belongs to objectivity. 5.01. Some Fundamental Principles of Action Vaccinologie 2011 - Évolution des virus grippaux, conséquences immunologiques

This extract is taken from the first professional short by Lynne Ramsay - toast of the 2011 Cannes Film Festival with her latest feature 'We Need to Talk About Kevin'.
Set in Ramsay's native Glasgow, 'Kill the Day' is a compelling study of the inner life of an ex-con junkie whose ability to distinguish between reality and memory/dream life is beginning to erode. Ramsay skilfully manipulates the soundtrack, which has the double effect of pulling us deeper into the non-linear narrative while shr

The late J. Tillman Hall, distinguished professor emeritus of physical education, discusses his life and the contributions he made to university life during his many years at USC.
An esteemed professor, writer, editor and administrator, Hall founded many student recreational groups on campus, as well as the still-thriving Westchester Lariats folk dance troupe.
Hall was interviewed by Paul E. Hadley on March 25, 1997, as part of the USC Emeriti Center's H. Dale Hilton Living History Project.
