Asia and Europe. Christopher Columbus discovered a new piece of land, which was the Americas. The Aztecs and the Incas were the two main empires brought down by Spanish conquistadors. The slave trade were transported to be needed for farms. The Columbian exchange gave each continent new different cash crops. It is named after Columbus.
On June 15, 1944, a week after D-day, the U.S. launches a critical attack on Saipan in the Mariana Islands. Japanese troops are more than prepared for battle and on the first day American forces face over 2,000 causalities. As the battle progresses, Japanese troops are unable to re-supply for three weeks and thus concede defeat to Americans. In this video clip learn more about this American victory in the Pacific.
