This class will introduce students to principles of good poetry,
including prosody, through readings of work by outside writers in Good Poems, edited by
Garrison Keillor, and through essays from Richard Hugo's The Triggering Town and
Rainer Maria Rilke's Letters To A Young Poet. You will complete writing exercises
assigned in class and in The Practice of Poetry edited by Robin Behn and Chase

Professor Daniel Beaumont, author of "Preachin' the Blues: The Life and Times of Son House," discusses Delta blues musician Son House and how the blues influenced American culture. Beaumont teaches courses in both Religion and Classics and in History. His courses range from Arabic language and literature to the blues.
More than 40 years ago, two teenage boys were brutalized and murdered. With the assistance of the law school's Civil Rights and Restorative Justice project, the victims' families received a landmark civil settlement. The family members will discuss their pursuit of justice during a special visit to the School of Law.
