Teachers as researchers and teachers as software developers: how use-case analysis helps build bette
A series of government initiatives has raised both the profile of ICT in the curriculum and the expectation that high quality teaching and learning resources will be accessible across electronic networks. In order for e-learning resources such as websites to have the maximum educational impact, teachers need to be involved in their design and development. Use-case analysis provides a means of defining user requirements and other constraints in such a way that software developers can produce e-le

7 Conclusion

One might think of the different interpretations of internationally recognised notions of rights and justice as running along a spectrum, from which we shall now identify four different positions.

  • The first interpretation would argue that, overall, the extension of rights to the international sphere has been benign and effective. It has led and will lead to further successful claims for justice.

Energy policy and climate change
The 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen presents a new focus for international debate and decisions about energy and its use. What are the countries of Western Europe and Scandinavia doing to promote sustainable energy production? Just how different will the future energy map of Europe look? And is energy policy principally a scientific issue or a political one? This album contains a series of films exploring energy policy in various countries around Europe in 2006, frame

Don't Believe the Liberal Media?
The media is under siege in this election — and the phenomenon isn't limited to the campaign for U.S. president. In this episode, Celeste and John talk with two powerful news editors in the United States and Europe about covering politics in an era when people think they're entitled not just to their own opinions, but their own facts. Marty Baron, the Pulitzer Prize-winning executive editor of The Washington Post, speaks about the moral obligation — and occasional frustrations — of truth

1.2.1 Study Note 1

Simple rules for dealing with orders of magnitude and decimal points in decimal numbers: values ten times bigger than the order of magnitude you are looking at go to the left, ten times smaller go to the right, and less than 1 to the right of the decimal point.

Note: in many European countries, a comma is used instead of a decimal point. For instance in France and Germany two and a half (in other words 2.5) can be written as 2,5. This is important to bear in mind, for example, if

TALAT Lecture 1201: Introduction to Aluminium as an Engineering Material
This lecture provides an introduction to metallurgical concepts necessary to understand how structural features of aluminium alloys are influenced by alloy composition, processing and heat treatment, and the basic affects of these parameters on the mechanical properties, and hence engineering applications, of the alloys. It is assumed that the reader has some elementary knowledge of physics, chemistry and mathematics.

Connecticut On Its Latest Cash Grab: It’s Not Greed When We Do It
Those possessing the anti-capitalist mentality — so ascendant in our culture today — often critique market actors as being solely motivated by “greed.” Surely economic systems based on nobler motivations, they say, would better promote the long-run interests of the planet. The Voluntary Marketplace Uses Greed as Motivation to Serve OthersThis is an issue I deal with in detail in my Principles of Economics classes. 2.2 Converting units

A great advantage of the metric system of units is that conversion between units within the system is particularly easy. For example, ‘£1 is worth 100p’ is converting one pound into pence. To convert pounds to pence, you multiply by 100. So £2 is 200p, and £2.63 is 263p. (Remember that to multiply by 100, you move the digits two places to the left in the place value table.)

To convert from pence to pounds, you need to reverse this process, i.e. to divide by 100 (moving the

In the last weeks of the war, Wilson used the promise of his Fourteen Points to persuade the German people to overthrow Kaiser Wilhelm II and establish an armistice. The Busy World of Richard Scarry-Imagine That - Ancient Ruins
In this video Huckle and Lowly Worm learn about ancient ruins. A long time ago people built pyramids and statues and are now ruins. We can learn from ruins of how people lived long ago. Ruins are wonderful things to explore but they need to be kept safe. This is a good teaching resource for teaching about history and people of long ago. This video would work well in conjunction with a story on ancient times and is an additional resource to help build background knowledge for students (1:06)
