Gear Basics
This video is designed to provide a basic introduction to gears suitable for grades 4 to 9. Gear rotation, gear ratio, rates of rotation, mechanical advantage and examples of use are included. A second video, " Time, Clocks and Gears" explains how gears are used in mechanical clocks to control the hands on an analog clock.
Pollinators and Pollination
This 4 minute slide show is set to soothing music with labels for each picture. Students must be able to read the labels (not narrated). Bright, colorful pictures depict various pollinators (bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, flies, wind etc). Parts of the flower (stamen and stigma) are briefly addressed at the beginning of the show. This would make a nice introduction to pollination even at the lower grade levels.
