1.6 Points, planes, lines and distances in three-dimensional Euclidean space
Attempts to answer problems in areas as diverse as science, technology and economics involve solving simultaneous linear equations. In this unit we look at some of the equations that represent points, lines and planes in mathematics. We explore concepts such as Euclidean space, vectors, dot products and conics.

Legalize It I don't use marijuana, medical or otherwise. I don't plan to take it up. Still, like an increasing number of Americans, I am vehemently opposed to the war on drugs. Several powerful arguments can be proffered in support of the notion that drug use is a poor life decision. It has a negative impact on health, like eating too much sugar or using tobacco. It can be well argued that it is a

Planning, Policy and Design 221 SEM A: PUBLIC POLICY
Public policy investigates what government does or, in other words, the outcomes of decisions made at local, regional, national, and international levels of governance - as well as the consequences they bring about. We explore three central, interrelated questions regarding the nature of governmental decision-making processes having as their aim the enactment, implementation, and evaluation of public policy. These are: 1) what frameworks, explanatory theories, and ways of knowing illuminate how

Recognizing mathematics, continued
This unit explores reasons for studying mathematics, practical applications of mathematical ideas and aims to help you to recognise mathematics when you come across it. It introduces the you to the graphics calculator, and takes you through a series of exercises from the Calculator Book, Tapping into Mathematics With the TI-83 Graphics Calculator. The unit ends by asking you to reflect on the process of studying mathematics. In order to complete this unit you will need to have obtained a Texas I

El Nino-La Nina Sea Surface Temperature, Height, and Wind Anomalies: January 1997 through December 1
This animation shows the onset of the very strong 1997 El Nino, followed by its collapse and replacement by La Nina. Anomalously warm waters slosh across the Pacific in late 1997 as El Nino begins and the equatorial trade winds diminish in strength. In May 1998, the El Nino event disperses and is rapidly replaced by its reciprocal phenomenon, La Nina, with anomalously cold water along the eastern equatorial Pacific and a reversal of the wind flow patterns.

Make Your Own Temperature Scale
Students learn about the difference between temperature and thermal energy. They build a thermometer using simple materials and develop their own scale for measuring temperature. They compare their thermometer to a commercial thermometer, and get a sense for why engineers need to understand the properties of thermal energy.
Introduction This unit provides an introduction to the evolution of mammals. We will be considering Darwin's observations on a great many mammals, and how he noticed that species fell into natural groups. We take as an example the evolution of one particularly interesting mammal, the whale, and look at evidence both from fossils and from DNA to see which other mammals are most closely related to whales. We see how the evidence from these two very different sources points to the same relationship and
Hydrophilic Interaction Chromatography, HILIC/SEC, HILIC/SXC
This site provides good background and operational parameters for the use of a specific type of chromatography, hydrophilic interaction chromatography. Pedagogical value, however, is probably only directed toward a graduate/advanced course in separations. This document provides a very clear explanation of operational parameters and mode of operation for HILIC. Very readable!
