Northeastern celebrates launch of D'Amore-McKim School of Business
On September 28, 2012, Northeastern University celebrated the historic launch of the D'Amore-McKim School of Business. Richard D'Amore, BA'76, and Alan McKim, MBA'88, two proud Northeastern alumni, have joined forces to make the largest philanthropic investment in the university's history. As a result of their combined $60 million gift, Northeastern's College of Business Administration was officially renamed in their honor.

"Magic" carpet, a hi-tech safety net for elderly care Oct. 8 - Scientists at the University of Manchester have developed a prototype carpet containing plastic optical fibres which can detect the pressure exerted by someone when they fall or change their gait while walking. Growing Germs in a Petri Dish This activity provides a hands-on demonstration of how disease is caused by other organisms and spread through contact with hard surfaces. Students will swab several hard surfaces in the classroom/school and touch them to a Petri dish. Petri dishes are left for 3 days to allow anything that was on the hard surfaces to grow.
