Profile: George Barrowclough
Dr. George Barrowclough uses molecular data and computer analyses to investigate the evolution and systematics of birds. This research includes phylogenetic studies of avian genera, families, and orders, as well as intraspecific studies of population genetics and phylogeography. The latter have included species such as the spotted owl and California gnatcatcher, which are of conservation concern. Determining the evolutionary relationships among birds has been a long-standing problem. Traditional

"Charles Eisenstein is a visionary scholar who maps economics, science, philosophy, psychology, and the history of civilization onto our daily activities, with inquiries like, 'How should we live?' 'What's really important?' 'How can our relationship to money be transformed?' He is the author of ""The Yoga of Eating"", ""Ascent of Humanity"", and ""Sacred Economics"".
Sacred Economics is Eisenstein's exploration of the history of money from ancient gift economies to modern capitalism, where he
This videotape tours the Solar System and outer space using scientific visualizations from Goddard Space Flight Center, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and the HPCC Earth and Space Sciences Project. At the Sun, simulations investigate processes that create magnetic field and release energetic particles. Earth science begins with the Pacific Ocean, studying the 1997-98 El Nino and Cyclone Susan. Crossing the globe, visualizations trace North Americas East Coast and ocean currents in the North Atlantic
The 2012 annual Sir Leslie Melville Lecture delivered by Dr Alan Bollard, Governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.
The near-meltdown in the financial system in 2007-08 and ensuing global recession have left challenging legacies. Monetary and fiscal policy in major advanced economies have found themselves backed into difficult corners. Meanwhile, researchers and forecasters are fundamentally rethinking economic frameworks to tackle financial fragility, contagion and instability. Dr Bollard e
Sept. 10 - Olli Rehn, the EU's top economic official, welcomed the ECB's pledge to buy government bonds if asked to. He also praised Greece for sticking to its tough budgetary reform programme.
Sep 10 - U.S. Treasury launches $18 billion AIG stock offering, and Chinese trade data points to global slowdown.

In this video you can see several examples of redox reactions along with a combustion reaction at the end. The teacher carries out each reaction in the lab while describing what is happening in each case (05:12).
This is a good explanation of acid base equilibrium. The teacher takes time to explain the self ionization of water and demonstrates how to solve an equilibrium problem using Kw, the ionization constant of water. He also explains how to use Kw to determine pH (03:50).
The Chem Guy demonstrates how to solve acid base equlibrium problems. He solves the problem step by step (05:05).
This lesson teaches parents the Saxon Phonics rules for suffix S. We code suffix s with a box. She reviews breves and decodable readers. This is a great resource to helps students master these important skills. (2:24)
Learn about the importance of improving your diet, losing weight, exercising, and quitting smoking. (06:35)
Aug. 31 - Despite government gridlock and flagging growth, investors are banking on promising signs India will introduce much-needed economic reforms.
This is an example of a poetry reading by a fourth grade student. Seeing another kid their age, may help some learners have more confidence to recite their poems or others' poetry orally. (00:46)
The cost of clinical laboratory testing has been increasing along with other types of healthcare costs. Dr. Jonathan Tait of the University of Washington evaluates the factors contributing to the growth in costs, and discusses the responsibilities of providers, patients, and third-party payers for controlling costs. He gives specific examples of testing policies that can control costs without sacrificing quality, particularly in the high-growth area of genetic testing. (Series: Laboratory
