'This is a brief introduction to the history of slavery and the black soldiers who fought in the civil war. Abolitionists had been pressing to put blacks into battle since the first shots were fired. Lightweight Isotruss Bike Using Carbon Fibers
Engineers used elements of architecture and geometry to create a strong but lightweight triangle-based isotruss bicycle frame. The isotruss is first wound with carbon fiber using a sheet that holds the tension constant. The engineers then hand-wind Kevlar strands over the isotruss. Students might be suprised that geometry is being used in making bike frames. It is also a good introduction into the triangle and its strengths.
