Cavitation on Ship Propellers
Summary: Cavitation is the transition of a fluid into vapour due to local reduction of pressure which is generated by high local flow velocities. The transition of a fluid into vapour also occurs during cooking of water by an increase of the local temperature. The term cavitation is generally reserved for conditions in which the temperature of the bulk fluid is not changed. Although cavitation can occur in many situations this course focuses on ship hydrodynamics and ship propellers. The course
A practical plan for implementing investigative laboratories
This resource outlines methods developed to promote investigative instead of demonstrative laboratory exercises as means of teaching concepts and introducing students to the scientific process. Students are guided through a variety of modular studies from which they can then formulate and test their own hypotheses.
A Laboratory Introduction to DNA Restriction Analysis
This workshop serves as an introduction to laboratory exercises in molecular biology.
15 Feb 2011: U.S. Human Spaceflight: Continuity and Stability
On Feb. 1, 2010, the Obama administration announced its plan to develop a new commercial manned spaceflight capability; NASA subsequently awarded $50 million in grants to five private firms as a first step to implement the vision of turning over space transportation to the commercial sector. Virginia A. Barnes, president and CEO of United Space Alliance, and George Jeffs, a member of the Space Shuttle Management Independent Review Team, will lead a panel discussion on the viability of flying the
From Here to There
Piece created in collaboration with Claire Nichols and Campbell Works for the exhibition 'On Trust'(2007).
Daylight piece
The exhibition was based around the theme of free will and had an international group of artists addressing this topic using a variety of media. The site was an old bunker in the former East Berlin underneath an old warehouse that had previously been used to produce tanks during the Second World War.
“Daylight Piece” is a response to the space using 14 daylight-balanced fluorescent tubes strategically placed in an abandoned stairwell to give the appearance that the stairs are leading out
Course 3: Assessment Practices
In this course, you'll explore your own cultural competence in the classroom; apply multiculturalism to problem-solving; receive training on service learning; and discuss how to create and sustain connections with classrooms around the world.
Course 2: New Teaching Methods
In this course, teachers be introduced to thematic learning and cooperative learning techniques. Teachers will have a chance to develop lesson plans with these ideas in mind. You are given practical tools for classroom management and ways in which you can guide students to think about their own process of learning. Portions of this course have been reproduced from the encyclopedia of informal education: www.infed.org
Course 1: Education for the New Millennium
The first course in a five-course series updating teacher skills and mastery, the purpose of which is to enhance the teaching profession and build teacher mentors on a local level. In Course 1, In this course, you'll be introduced to educational theories and approaches to learning and how to apply them to your classroom; aspects of effective teaching; and contemporary issues in education. The material reflects a pattern of inclusive, discovery-oriented, culturally-attuned, and globally-aware tea
Waves and Optics
Fundamentals of oscillations and waves and properties of electromagnetic waves. Basic principles of geometric optics, interference and diffraction, including Fourier methods.
Seeing Using Sound
Elec 301 Project - Fall 2005. Seeing using Sound transforms images in to sound to aid blind people.
Reading Music: Common Notation
Catherine Schmidt-Jones
This course may be used to introduce or reinforce music-reading skills for someone just learning to play an instrument, or the individual lessons can be used to expand on basic music-reading […]
Pathway To Dreams
This course is a self paced question oriented path to help you as an artist determine your goals, direction and your voice.
Model Checking Concurrent Programs
Introduction to the use of Promela and SPIN as a model-checker for verifying concurrent programs. The underlying transition system is used as a model for the interpretation of Linear Temporal Logic (LTL) formulas.
Media Processing in Processing
A course on fundamentals of image/sound processing and graphic programming explained by means of the free language and environment Processing.
Investigation of Delay and Sum Beamforming Using a Two-Dimensional Array
Our final project for ELEC 301, Fall 2005. We investigated the delay and sum method of array beamforming, specifically through the analysis in Labview of data drawn from a two-dimensional eight microphone perimeter array.
Introductory Seminar
In this course, you'll be introduced to educational theories and approaches to learning and how to apply them to your classroom; aspects of effective teaching; and contemporary issues in education. The material reflects a pattern of inclusive, discovery-oriented, culturally-attuned, and globally-aware teaching.
Fundamentals of Digital Signal Processing Lab
The purpose of this lab is to familiarize students with the DSP development workstation in the signal processing lab by examining sampling, analysis, and reconstruction of continuous-time signals. Specifically, we will first look at sampling/reconstruction of continuous-time signals. We will then examine time- and frequency-domain displays. Finally, we will examine the importance of sampling frequency and its effects on aliasing.
Frequency and Music
An overview of frequency, harmonic (Fourier) series, and their relationship to music.
