While we know there is air around us all the time, we normally do not notice the air pressure. The purpose of this is activity is to use Bernoulli's Principle to manipulate air pressure so we can see its influence on the objects around us.

Computational laboratory: Starting from a set of breast cancer BACs (bacterial artificial chromosomes) End Sequence Profiling (ESP) is performed. ESP analysis sequences the ends of insert DNA in order to characterize genomic rearrangements that may be involved in breast cancer progression. In this study, genomic rearrangements are characterized from 100 breast cancer BACs and 10,000 Fosmids (derived from a pool of the 100 originating BAC) using ESP. Students complete three different activities to evaluate the energy consumption in a household and explore potential ways to reduce that consumption. The focus is on conservation and energy efficient electrical devices and appliances. The lesson reinforces the relationship between power and energy and associated measurements and calculations required to evaluate energy consumption. The lesson provides the students with more concrete information for completing their culminating unit assignment.
