Nervous System
Video discusses the nervous system. It shows what the nervous system is responsible for. It discusses what the nervous system is made of, how big it is, and what it controls.  It is called the nervous system because it is made of billions of nerve cells. The brain is divided into the right side and the left side. It also shows the different parts of the brain.
The Anatomy of the Central Nervous System
This is an excellent, concise video giving information through simple animation and commentary. A quote from the video: "The nervous system is a complex network of nerve cells and nerve fibers spread throughout the body. Its function is to interpret, store, and respond to information received from inside and outside."

Science Fiction-Science Fact
Science fiction has always provided inspiration and ideas for the scientists and engineers who design and build real spacecraft. Many of our current technologies were predicted long ago in science fiction stories. Arthur C. Clarke, scientist turned writer, wrote the screenplay for 2001: A Space Odyssey. The narrator descibes space stations, spaceships, and the influence of Jules Verne's story From
Ingredients for Life - Water
Earth provides a comfortable and temperate environment for a wide variety of living organisms. However, in the past few decades, scientists have discovered unusual life forms thriving in areas where the majority of living things on Earth could never survive, such as by deep sea vents or in dry deserts. This video segment, adapted from NOVA, explores extreme forms of life on Earth, the importance of liquid water, and the possibilities of life elsewhere in the solar system. Closed captioning inclu

The Deadliest Planet, Venus Surface & Atmosphere
Venus is the deadliest planet in our solar system. Photgraphy and story goes with a probe that was dropped onto the planet. It starts with the details of the atmosphere, then goes to the surface of the planet. Video is of good quality and is appropriate for middle elementary, middle school, and high school students.
Venus: Death of a Planet
"From the fires of a sun's birth... twin planets emerged. Venus... and Earth. Two roads diverged in our young solar system. Nature draped one world in the greens and blues of life.
While enveloping the other in acid clouds... high heat... and volcanic flows. Why did Venus take such a disastrous turn?"
NOTE: There is very brief (a second), frontal female nudity of the antique sculpture of Venus. Narrated with English captions. Excellent computer animation.(22:09)
