The Papers of K. Leroy Irvis document the life of one of Pennsylvania's prominent politicians. Among his achievements, Irvis was elected Speaker of the House in 1977, the only African-American to hold the position in the United States at that time. The collection contains a wide variety of material, including correspondence, legislative material, interviews, photographs, publications, and campaign literature.
Papers of Catherine Hoyt, 1907-1951
Catherine Hoyt was a Social Worker who worked with the Red Cross, Allegheny County Juvenile Court, and other agencies. The collection includes correspondence, writings, reports, notes and studies of a former probation officer of the Allegheny County Juvenile Court; studies relate to juvenile delinquency in the East End of Pittsburgh during the period 1908-1915.
