A new capital city was built (Per Ramses) that signified the beginning of a new empire while, in southern Egypt, tombs were being built in Ramses' honor with all of the riches of the empire. During the great battle of Kadesh, the Egyptians were near defeat until re-enforcements arrived and saved the day.
