First Memorial Day

SINK THE BISMARCK ~ sung by Johnny Horton
Sink the Bismarck is a song sung by Johnny Horton that tells the story of this epic naval battle. It was a favorite at the time and is still considered a classic by those who lived during World War Two. The song and video are a good start to a lesson on the war and can include comparing the ships involved in terms of size, crew numbers, and tonnage. A nice way to introuce the students to technology as well.
2 Dimensional Basic Geometric Shapes
Section two is good for comparing and contrasting geometric shapes. The first section is about real world shapes. The sound quality of the first section is scratchy. The second section uses animation to highlight the attributes of the different shapes. Excellent. The third section is a primary classroom where students are sorting shapes which is not particularly interesting.  (4:29)
