Science Bulletins: Amazon People Offer Clues to Heart Health
A long-term study of the Tsimane, a traditional community that lives in the Bolivian Amazon, is offering scientists a new perspective on the risks of heart disease. A recent report by anthropologists from the University of New Mexico and the University of California has found that although the Tsimane present a major risk factor—chronic inflammation—they don't show signs of cardiovascular disease.

Purpose/Aim of this Session
This timelapse video shows this Saturnia albofasciata 3rd instar caterpillar molt its skin. This whole process (preparation, molting and post-molting recovery) takes 2-3 days but all the real action happens during the actual shedding of the skin in only a few minutes. What a great resource to help build background knowledge and to help make real world connections between nature and the classroom. (1:23)
