Roman Republic
This six minute video does an excellent job of exploring the linking between the Roman Empire and America's current government. It uses a narrator and cartoon figures to help students understand that the form of government the United States uses today, the republic, was actually started by the Romans. Many principles was used today derived from Roman law, like how the accused is innocent until proven guilty. A good overview.
