Podcast - 'State of the Nation' Address
Some musings from myself about the podcast, what has been achieved so far, and where I plan on taking things from here on in.
Rocks, Rocks, Rocks: Activity
Student teams will test rocks to identify and record rock properties such as luster, hardness, color, etc., and classify rocks as igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary. They will complete a worksheet table with all of their rock properties, and then answer some worksheet questions to deepen their understanding of rock properties and relate them to the cavern design problem.
Making a table reservation in a restaurant:
At the completion of this lesson you will be able to: make a table reservation in a restaurant. You will also learn the different types of restaurants and what you can expect there to be on the menu.

This collection of images features spacecraft and instruments used for high-energy research, typically studies of X-rays and Gamma rays. The collection includes pictures of early astronomy rockets and instruments, an archive of videos, and a large selection of images of vehicles and instruments from more recent missions. Some of the more recent missions also include lightcurve, spectral, and/or image data.
" Topics include productivity effects of health, private and social returns to education, education quality, education policy and market equilibrium, gender discrimination, public finance, decision making within families, firms and contracts, technology, labor and migration, land, and the markets for credit and savings."
De student luistert naar een uitleg over reisverzekeringen. Na het beluisteren van het geluidsfragment moet de student:
- de betekenis van woorden afleiden uit de context;
- de hoofdgedachte uit het gesprek achterhalen;
- technieken opsommen die de spreker gebruikt om zijn verhaal boeiend en duidelijk te maken voor het publiek.
You listen to an advertising spot and answer some questions about it. You work out what techniques advertising companies use to make advertisements attractive. At the end you can say what you think of the advertising spot.
As a continuation of the theme of potential and kinetic energy, this lesson introduces the concepts of momentum, elastic and inelastic collisions. Many sports and games, such as baseball and ping-pong, illustrate the ideas of momentum and collisions. Students explore these concepts by bouncing assorted balls on different surfaces and calculating the momentum for each ball.
Welcome and overview, 1st National Symposium on Translational Psychiatry
This lesson introduces and describes the main types of erosion (i.e., chemical, water, wind, glacier and temperature). Students learn examples of each type of erosion and discuss how erosion changes the surface of the Earth. Students also learn why engineers need to be aware of the different types of erosion in order to protect structures and landmarks from the damaging effects erosion can cause. Figure 1 is an excellent illustration of water erosion.
July 20 - An excited beach-goer films two dogs chasing sharks in the sea off Western Australia's coast. Tara Cleary reports.
At the completion of this chapter you will be able to give a personal opinion about medical issues.
