PediNeuroLogic Exam: 6 Month Old: Normal: Motor - Tone
Tone is assessed for the upper and lower extremities by passive range of motion when the baby is cooperative. Distraction is a great way to get that cooperation. Babies at this age have found their feet and can suck on their toes. On passive range of motion, the lower extremity should be flexible enough to bring the foot to the baby's mouth. There shouldn't be any ankle clonus. A neuroscience tutorial focusing on those aspects of the pediatric neurological examination that are unique to the chil
2.5 Component 3: Skills We all have considerable skills that we develop as we go through life. Many of them are so familiar to us that we probably don't think about them. For example, the reading skill which you are using right now is a highly complex and sophisticated one which took years to develop to this level. Our approach to skills is again to provide you with a framework to help with your learning and understanding. We use four categories of skill in our framework:
3.20 Key ethical issues for CAM practitioners: an effective complaints mechanism
Why are so many people now turning to complementary and alternative medicine and why do approaches to complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) raise such controversy? This unit explores the following three key areas: ‘Why people use complementary and alternative medicine’, ‘Critical issues in the therapeutic relationship’ and ‘Ethics in complementary and alternative medicine’.
7.014 Introductory Biology (MIT)
The MIT Biology Department core courses, 7.012, 7.013, and 7.014, all cover the same core material, which includes the fundamental principles of biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, and cell biology. Biological function at the molecular level is particularly emphasized and covers the structure and regulation of genes, as well as, the structure and synthesis of proteins, how these molecules are integrated into cells, and how these cells are integrated into multicellular systems and organism
Creating Capabilities
If a country's Gross Domestic Product increases each year, but so does the percentage of its people deprived of basic education, health care, and other opportunities, is that country really making progress? If we rely on conventional economic indicators, can we ever grasp how the world's billions of individuals are really managing?
In this video and in her new book, CREATING CAPABILITIES, Martha Nussbaum argues that our dominant theories of development have given us policies that ignore our mos

Got Energy? Spinning a Food Web
Students learn about energy flow in food webs, including the roles of the sun, producers, consumers and decomposers in the energy cycle. They model a food web and create diagrams of food webs using their own drawings and/or images from nature or wildlife magazines. Students investigate the links between the sun, plants and animals, building their understanding of the web of nutrient dependency and energy transfer.
3.1 An overview of the issues As Section 2.3 demonstrated, there has been a long tradition of valuing play in early years settings. Most definitions and descriptions of, and justifications for, play are from the adult's point of view. The dominant discourse of play in early years settings presents play as fun, enjoyable, free from externally-imposed rules, unpressurised, unlikely to lead to failure, intellectually challenging, more concerned with process than fina

Global surface temperatures in 1998 set a new record for the period of instrumental measurements, report researchers at the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies who analyze data collected from several thousand meteorological stations around the world. This visualization shows surface temperature anomalies from 1950 through November, 1998. The 1998 warmth was associated partly with a strong El Nino that warmed the air over the eastern tropical Pacific Ocean in the first half of the year and i

Course: "Introduction to Interaction Design"
Project: Three of four final presentation projects (CCA undergraduate)
Term: Spring 2011
Instructor: Kristian Simsarian
Description: Four groups of students redesigned the user experience for the fictitious airline, 1$air.
They presented to judges from Smart Design, HOT Studio, Google, and IDEO. Students worked one on one with design coaches from interaction design companies and other start-ups to create this inspired project.
