Pass It On!
Elon University students give thanks to all of Elon's generous donors at the Pass It On project.
This 4:50 video explains that photosynthesis is a process found in plant cells which converts light energy into chemical energy in the form of sugars that the plant can store and use at any time. Photosynthesis takes place in the chloroplasts, an organelle only found in plant cells, and consists of two parts: the light dependent reaction, which converts light energy into ATP, and the Calvin cycle, which converts ATP into glucose. The video is in lecture format.
"Rainy Day" Song by the Milkshake Kids
Another fun fine animation by Sam Tillman. "Rainy Day" is a song from the Milkshake Kids. Students will learn about all the things you can do in the rain. This is a great resource to help build background knowledge about the weather and to help make real world connections between nature and the classroom. (1:42)

Science Bulletins: Monitoring Mount Etna -- Magma on the Move
cientists in Sicily are collecting an enormous amount of data to monitor moving magma inside Mount Etna, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. Nearly a million people live on the volcano's flanks, so being able to predict an eruption could be a matter of life and death. In this Earth Bulletin, visit the volcano's snowy slopes and learn how scientists from the Italian National Institute for Geophysics and Volcanology record seismic activity, measure gases seeping up through the ground, s
Science Bulletins: PETM- Unearthing Ancient Climate Change
Fifty-five million years ago, a sudden, enormous influx of carbon flooded the ocean and atmosphere for reasons that are still unclear to scientists. What is clear is that as atmospheric CO2 content increased, the average global surface temperature rose 5°C to 9°C (9°F to 16°F). The Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM), as this global warming event is known, lasted upwards of 170,000 years and had dramatic impacts on living things both on land and in oceans. In this feature, a team of pale
