4.11.1 Procedural ultra vires This is where the enabling Act sets out the procedural rules to be followed by the body which has been given the delegated power. The court can find the delegated legislation to be ultra vires and void if these rules were not followed. In the Aylesbury Mushroom case (1972) Agricultural Horticultural and Forestry Industry Training Board v Aylesbury Mushrooms Ltd (1972) 1 All ER 280 delegated legislation required the Minister of Labour to consult ‘any organisation
1.3.11 The significance of the near-death experience The sociologist Allan Kellehear (1995) observes that most studies have had a medical focus, investigating whether near-death experiences could be the result of a lack of oxygen to the brain or another medical or psychological cause. Kellehear suggests that the search for psycho-medical explanations has focused on psycho-neurological and defensive mechanisms emphasising altered status of consciousness or physical functioning and not taken into account the meaning of these experiences. Introduction to Division Part 2 Molecular Biology Animated Walt Disney Biography Samuel Gompers and the AFL-CIO The Blue Planet When Science Meets Ancient Art, Colors Emerge The Dust Bowl, 1936
Building on decades of research and mountains of data, scientists and animators are now recreating in vivid and sometimes jaw-dropping detail the complex inner workings of cells. This video shows some of these animations, as well as discusses with scientists and animators the importance of this work.
This four minute video is a glowing tribute to Disney's life and how Mickey Mouse paved the way for his success. The video shows some of his accomplishments and his move from cartoons to three dimensional characters to the creation of Disneyland. It does not deal with his politics or personal life.
This 42 minute long video is about the life of Samuel Gompers and his impact on public policy and our society. Mr. Gompers was one of the earliest labor leaders with the AFL-CIO and is considered the father of the modern labor movement. This is done as an interview. The first three minutes of the video are a commercial for other videos. This is an excellent video to tell how the union movement started and why and its battle for worker's rights and the eight-hour day.
Perhaps the last great unexplored frontier on earth, the oceans reveal major new revelations as detected by scientists aboard the space shuttle and submerged to the depths of the "middle ocean" to view rare life forms.
This video shows how ancient sculptures and architecture were painted. It is 2:38 long video and the use of black light is highlighted. Not much here, but it does show students how science and art can come together.
This short video footage dramatically portrays life in the Dust Bowl. Students may need to watch it twice as it almost appears to be digitally enhanced or science fiction. It would be a great introduction for Grapes of Wrath or other books set in this time period and location.
