DMC TV: 75th Anniversary Time Capsule
The 2010-2011 academic year marks Del Mar College's 75th Anniversary of providing higher education opportunities to South Texas residents. On March 30, 2011, the College's Former Students and Alumni Associations held a time capsule ceremony that included placing specially selected items into a capsule for burial on the West Campus and not to be opened until 2036.
DMC TV: TACHE BBQ textbook fund-raiser
In an effort to help Del Mar College students alleviate some of the associated costs of purchasing textbooks for classes, the DMC Chapter of the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education (TACHE) held a barbecue plate fund-raiser for textbook scholarships on Saturday, April 9, 2011.

Now in its 11th year, the Children's Book Festival is a highlight of the spring semester at Del Mar College. Each year, more than 1,000 precocious four-year-olds spend a pleasant April morning in Creighton Plaza absorbing stories and images of guest authors and illustrators who focus their work on children's books.

Senior-level Del Mar College cosmetology students collected hair donations during its Spring 2011 semester drive for the "Locks of Love" organization.
DMC: Biology 1409 Field Trip to Blucher Park
Nine Del Mar College students in the General Biology: Diversity and Environment class taught by DMC Associate Professor of Biology Lillian Bass studied migrant birds as part of an up close and personal field trip to Blucher Park, near downtown Corpus Christi.

A non-traditional Del Mar College student details her interest in chemistry and shares plans for a future career in the field.

Radar Shows Promise for Detecting Concussion
By asking an individual to walk a short distance in front of a radar system while saying the months of the year in reverse order, researchers at the Georgia Tech Research Institute can determine if that person is impaired and possibly suffering from a concussion. This simple test, which could be performed on the sideline of a sporting event or on a battlefield, has the potential to help coaches and commanders decide if athletes and soldiers are ready to engage in activity again.

Electric Vehicles and the Grid
Consumer adoption of Electric Vehicles (EV's) and Plug-in Hybrid EV's (PHEV's) in the United States is anticipated to be significant and rapid. In fact, some prognosticators compare it to the roll-out of air conditioning. While possibly overstated in terms of scale, nevertheless, the use of EV's and PHEV's will affect utilization of the Grid. What potential challenges and opportunities exist for power demand, two-way power flows and power management?
