Approximating pi
This web page features mathematical information about Archimedes' successful approach to finding an approximation to pi and an interactive manipulative that replicates the approach. The user can approximate pi as a number between the lengths of the perimeters of two polygons, one inscribed inside a circle and one circumscribed around the circle. The number of sides for the polygons may be increased to 96 with the value for pi always being between the two approximations. Similarities and differen

Calculus (CA Textbook)
This Internet resource provides introductory information, concept or skill development in Mathematics for grade 9, 10, 11, and 12 students who are at grade level in a single student situation. This text was initially written by David Guichard. The single variable material (not including infinite series) was originally a modification and expansion of notes written by Neal Koblitz at the University of Washington, who generously gave permission to use, modify, and distribute his work. New material
Making Japanese
This book emphasizes a succession of topics rather than strict adherence to the flow of time. In a general way, the chapters move from earlier periods of time to later periods of time, but their content and organization gives top priority to coverage of topics. While the "mainstream" narrative of politics and institutions is present in these pages, the emphasis is on social and cultural history wherever possible.

Will you be my friend? An analysis of friendster.com
Friendster.com was launched in California in 2002 with 20 users. Today, it has more than 27 million members and it is especially popular among Southeast Asian women. It differs from other online dating sites in that users must be approved before they can become part of a user’s personal network. This study explores what may have made the site so attractive, as well as how its users represent themselves in their personal profiles. Drawing on social constructionist and feminist theories, this th
Parametric study of low velocity impact analysis on composite tubes
As explicit finite element codes improve and advanced material models become available, such tools find more widespread application in many industries. This thesis reports the research study of the low velocity impact simulation on carbon reinforced polymer epoxy composite tube using nonlinear explicit finite element software LS-Dyna. Validation of the experimental results is done with the proposed finite element model in LS-Dyna. A finite element model is implemented on quadratic stress based g
Analysis of GFRP composite tubes for vertical pump application
Composite anisotropic materials are rapidly gaining popularity in various applications. A global trend is towards an increases utilization of these advanced materials in a variety of structural applications. The pump and pipeline industry, and aerospace industry are the areas where use of fiber reinforced plastics have potential advantages over conventional materials. This thesis presents the results of an investigation to predict the behavior of filament wound glass fiber reinforced composite p
Three-Dimensional Modeling, Animation and Rendering Using Blender 3D Software
The Blender 3D Design course is intended to offer students an introduction to the world of computer generated 3-D modeling and animation. As an introductory course, it provides a basic understanding of the skills and techniques employed by 3-D designers in a wide range of applications. This course updates and replaces Three-Dimensional Modeling, Animation and Rendering Using Blender 3D Software (2006), previously on Tufts OCW. In this course we will explore basic mesh modeling, applying textures
State of play
STATE OF PLAY: Research residency commission by the South London Gallery to establish performative dialogues with the inhabitants of a housing estate in Peckham. Work culminated in an exhibition and video installation in a flat on the estate.
Space between words
After spending such a considerable time working with narratives and type I came across this process of cutting out type to create different depths of field. The columns of a newspaper were it's original inspiration.
Obviously, now though, this piece is no longer about the actual words. Instead I was implying that the space between words is where our thoughts take shape.

Understanding English Syntactic Phenomena
This course is designed to get students doing syntactic analyses of English constructions. The main goal of this class is two fold: To help students enhance their understanding of the structure of English in a systematic and scientific way \item To help students develop keen eyes on the structure of simple as well as complex English sentences. The class focuses primarily on the descriptive facts of English syntax, presented in a way that encourages students to develop keen insights into the Engl
Intelligent User Experience Engineering
The course Intelligent User eXperience Engineering (IUXE) is given for the master programme 'Media and Knowledge Engineering' and for students from other master programmes. The aim is to achieve an understanding and practical experience of key principles, methods and theories in the area of intelligent user experience engineering. Study Goals: Knowledge of a basic, coherent approach for developing software systems in such a way that the systems' users can accomplish their goals effectively and e
Assessing the validity and reliability of a Piagetian-based paper pencil test
Piaget hypothesized that we understand the world through the use of cognitive frameworks. The strengths and limitations of these cognitive frameworks (or levels) both help and hinder the learning process. Comprehending individuals’ cognitive levels is essential for teachers to ensure that their students learn. Piaget developed a series of tasks to assess individuals’ cognitive levels (typically called "clinical interviews" which can only be conducted in a one-to-one fashion). Thus, a paper-a

3 The acquisitive model of learning
How do we learn? Understanding ‘how’ is the key to learning more effectively. This unit looks at the three main categories of theories: the acquisitive, constructivist and experiential models of learning. There is no right way to learn but developing an active approach will ensure that you are open to new ideas.
AP Statistics Curriculum 2007
This is an Internet-based E-Book for advanced-placement (AP) statistics educational curriculum. The E-Book is initially developed by the UCLA Statistics Online Computational Resource (SOCR), however, all statistics instructors, researchers and educators are encouraged to contribute to this effort and improve the content of these learning materials.
